Other Big Hearts Fill a Big Gap to Help Children – Kernersville Elementary School’s Christmas fund had lost generous, anonymous benefactor. Article by Monica Young / Winston-Salem Journal 12/16/2004 –
Eleven years ago, a businessman from Virginia was traveling through Kernersville. He read news reports about poor children at Kernersville Elementary School…This year, the benefactor retired and told Lewis that his financial situation had changed. The Kernersville Rotary Club passed the hat during January for Tsunami Relief. We were able to contribute over $1500 which will be matched by our District, 7690. Thank You Rotarians!

Club and District Disaster Relief Efforts .
One of the ways that various Rotary clubs are contributing is with Shelter Boxes .

What a great informative program on June 9.  Rotarian Tommy Gallagher introduced Ken Smith, Furniture Market Analyst for BDO Seidman of High Point NC.  Ken brought members up to date on what is happening in the furniture industry from the High Point Market to the importing and exporting of products and the trends in the retail market.

David Fitzpatrick, principal of Kernersville Elementary School receives the Rotary 4 Way test award from Rotary Club of Kernersville President Dona Neal.  Dr. Donald Martin Superintendent of Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools was also on hand for the presentation  This is a prestigious award presented once a year to the one of Most upstanding business or professional leaders in the community.

On Wednesday May 19, 2004 The Rotary Club of Kernersville Honored the National Academic Team from Kernersville Middle School for their OUTSTANDING accomplishment of placing 2nd in the nation in Academic Competition.  There were more than 600 teams from private and public schools nationwide and this Great!!! Team performed with excellence.  Congratulations to the students and the coaches as well as the Administration and Staff from Kernersville Middle School.

The “2003-2004 School year” Rotary Club of Kernersville Scholarship award winners are shown with Forsyth County School Superintendent Dr. Donald Martin(also a Rotarian) and Rotary Scholarship Chairperson Jawn Scott (right end).  The students (l to r) Dacia Ijames (Glenn H. S.), Anna Layton (Glenn H.S.),  Alyn Berry (East Forsyth H.S.), and Laura Morrison (East Forsyth H.S.) were selected from an outstanding group of students. These scholarship winners not only excelled in their studies but also were involved in numerous  other school and community activities serving others.  Each of these students received a scholarship in the amount of $1,000.
