PRESIDENT's COLUMN

Rotary International President, Bill Boyd has a column in the August Rotarian magazine. I admit, I'm a little behind in my reading. The article is about STRONG ROTARY CLUBS.

Here's what he says a SUCCESSFUL CLUB should do:
1. Assess. Find out what the members want. (A survey will be sent by the end of the week so we can find out.)
2. Emphasize. Social Aspects. (Fireside Chats, Christmas hayride, Haunted House)
3. Market. Same as #1. Find out what people want.
4. Induct. Bring in new members with dignity and class. (New induction ceremony)
5. Involve. Make the whole family part of Rotary. (See #2 above)
6. Mentor. Make sure the seasoned Rotarian helps new members get started & stay involved. (Big brother approach. Sponsoring Rotarian is responsible. Assign projects to new members. Gold star on badge of new Rotarians for 6 months)
7. Educate. Continuous, but slowly. There's a lot to learn & it can be overwhelming. (ABC's of Rotary at each meeting. Emphasis on theme for the month. Fabulous website. Huge wealth of information shared by seasoned members.)
8. Enthuse. Rotary should be FUN! (Thank you, Roy!)

KERNERSVILLE ROTARY, STRONG, SUCCESSFUL, IS LEADING THE WAY TO PROVIDING ANOTHER 100 YEARS OF SERVICE TO HUMANITY.
