PRESIDENT's
COLUMN
A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE
Several years ago, in conjunction with its 50th Anniversary, the Atlantic Coast Conference rolled out a new marketing slogan “A Tradition of Excellence…Then, Now and Always”. I’m thinking about asking ACC Commissioner John Swafford if we could borrow that for our Rotary Club. It so neatly encapsulates exactly what our club is all about.
At our annual District Conference last month, our club was awarded the District Governor’s Gold Club Achievement Award for the 2009-2010 Rotary Year. This marks the 12th consecutive year we’ve earned this distinction. We’re one of less than a half-dozen clubs throughout our district that has earned the award every year since its inception. That’s something for us to be incredibly proud of, as a club has to excel in all areas to earn the award. We’ll also be receiving a Presidential Citation from RI President John Kenny.
Our tradition of excellence has been well established by our club’s charter members and long-time members who have helped our club become what it is today: one of the top Rotary Clubs in the world. That tradition has laid the foundation for the excellence we’ve achieved this year, through the hard work of each and every member of our club. And, we’re laying the foundation for excellence in the years to come by recruiting new members that will lead our club into the future. I can’t say it enough: thank you for all you do to make the Rotary Club of Kernersville such a special organization! I’m going to go call Roy Collette now and see if he has John Swafford’s phone number…
