PRESIDENT's
COLUMN
January is designated "Rotary Awareness Month". It is a time for all Rotarians to become more aware of Rotary and perhaps more importantly making the people of the world more aware of who we are. Maybe we can set up a couple of challenges for ourselves in the club here in Kernersville during January. First, we could set a goal of learning four new facts about Rotary - facts that you did not know beforehand. The best way to do this is to take a few minutes and go to the Rotary web site and go to a section or page that you have never visited, read the information and make a note of the facts that you find. Or reread the magazine that we all just received. How many Rotarians in the world? How many Paul Harris Fellows? Second, we could select four people outside of Rotary whom you meet with regularly or see from time to time in your business or profession and ask each of them if they know this or that fact which you have just learned. Since they probably don't know the answer you can quote the fact and maybe make them appreciate Rotary a little. Maybe they will eventually become a member? Just
think - 63 members times four equals 252 more "Rotary aware"
individuals. |
