PRESIDENT's
COLUMN
As the holiday season is upon us, we are ready to celebrate, both within our group and with the larger community. Founders Night was a great kick off, with fabulous fellowship and food. The table decorations and cake were a festive addition, thanks to the efforts of Kay Rogers and her band of helpers. Our District Governor, Mitzi Ellis and her husband Steve joined us and Mitzi delivered an inspiring message. Dancing and mingling followed the banquet, and I spied Keith Brandis slow dancing with his lovely bride to a rather peppy song. I think he just wanted to hold her tight. Next week we'll invite the whole family to climb in the wagons for a hayride through the Festival of Lights in Tanglewood. Come hungry for a meal before taking the ride through the park. Kernersville Rotary is gearing up for the pancake supper. Peter Huminski is coordinating the effort and each Rotarian is selling tickets. The event is a big deal for the community, one where you can expect to see all your friends and neighbors. We have fun serving and cooking and make some money while we are at it. Hamp Langdon is heading up our annual nursing home visit. Before going to the home and leading them in song, we sort and bag the clothing and goodies to deliver. Be sure to save some time in your schedule to help with this event. Barbara Fulp (... continued on the Rotary Blog) |
