PRESIDENT's COLUMN

Rotary International's theme for August is membership. We had a phenomenal growth of 30% last year. This reflects favorably on our club and perhaps reflects the dynamic growth and optimism in our community. However we must not stop in our growth due to that one great surge of success last year.

Our community continues to grow and our opportunities for service also grow. Conflict and disease around the world can be best fixed by Rotarians. That we can expand the number of Rotarians here in Kernersville makes the solution to those problems a little easier to obtain To increase our numbers here in Kernersville will increase the effort to finally rid the world of polio, will increase the fight against disease and poverty and will make the world a little better place than we found it.

To deny even one of our fellow professionals in the community a chance to experience Rotary seems unforgivable but it does happen in the busy day to day effort of working, raising a family and making a living.

Perhaps each one of us should stop once a week and browse the Rotary.org web site for just a few minutes to remind ourselves the good that we do. To share that feeling with someone in your peer group would be a great gift - perhaps a life changing one.

"Service to a just cause rewards the worker with more real happiness and satisfaction than any other venture of life." - Carrie Chapman Catt
