Foreign Exchange Students

2016 – Leah Paige

Right before I boarded the plane to Brazil. The trip was a bit difficult with an unexpected night in the Miami airport, an emergency landing, and an ultimate twenty-two hour delay..but I finally made it to Brazil on July 29th!

August 1st-5th was orientation week for all the inbounds in district 4520. The week was filled with museums (lots of them), Portuguese classes, and soccer games!

Here Molly, the Australian exchange student living in my city, and I are helping out at a crèche, a children’s nursery, for the day. At school with some Brazilian friends and Molly.

This was our second meeting of all inbounds and outbounds of district 4520. In this picture we have three of the six North Americans in 4520. In the back is Adam from Canada and to the right of me is Denisse from Mexico.

My cousin Mauro and my host mother Fatima at Governador Valadares. Before climbing Pico da Bandeira, the third highest point in Brazil. The inbounds of district 4520 at our last meeting. These are just a few of the many memories I’ve made in Brazil in my first four months. Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Best wishes, Leah
