Our Welcome

I agree, the reception couldnt have been warmer last night. I couldnt believe how many came to greet us, especially since it was after midnight when we arrived! I look forward to the trip, and I can tell already this will be an experience I will always cherish!

Thank you so much to all who have helped in putting this trip together!

  • Huh, I thought you'd be a bit taller relative to the locals Abby. Perhaps you won't be revered as some sort of deity after all. -Brother.

    Dear Phil,
It is my pleasure to let you know that your GSE team has safely arrived Taiwan last night. I had a chance to meet them at the airport. Each member of your GSE team is energized about the upcoming weeks they will be spending in Taiwan. Tonight, my district is going to hold a welcome party for them.
Wish all is well for you and your wife,
    Archi

    Dear Phil,
    23-03-2008 Sunday
To welcome D7690 GSE Team arriving at TIA Taiwan, D3500 leaders including GSE Chair Jason, Assistant Governers, club presidents of host clubs, D3500 GSE Team membes and I, also Rotarians of RC of Taoyuan Northwest, more than 20 persons in total spent 3hrs in the Arrival Area of Terminal 2, TIA waiting for the delayed NW flight. So D7690 Team led by Pam Ray actually met us there at 23:10 or so, very tired but also excited. They wore the welcome wreaths and took pictures jointly with D3500 Rotarians there and were then given a 30 minute ride to Chuto Plaza Hotel, Taoyuan City before they quit fighting jetlag.
Everybody from D7690 and D3500 were as happy as clams.
    2404-2008 Monday
D7690 GSE team dined together with host district Rotarians in Chuto Plaza Hotel.
Thank you Phil, hearing the birth day of Denise from you, at the welcome party we presented birthday cake of huge size and sang Happy Birthday song to Denise - the atmosphere was amazing. The short but thring PowerPoint presentation of D7690 Team was so amazing - esp the Chinese captions and voice - it was amazing and unbeliebable.
Nil presented a "Firefighter doll" developed from his image to Denise and she was quite happy.
Well, photos showing the warmth will be sent back to NC shortly.
Thank you, Phil, D7690 GSE Team is different and your invaluable support makes them realy something.
    Congratulations!

  • I'm a little late in posting. Already miss your occasional call when you are driving home from work. Know you are having a great experience. It's one thing to travel to the far-east with Mom and see sights, now you will be "living-it". Cannot think of any comment that will top Tyler's.
    Love, Dad
